WHAT IS SOUND EDUCATION?

Think about it . . .

• Did you learn your alphabet in a song?
• Do the words to songs pop out of your mouth almost unconsciously?
• Did you ever remember information for tests by setting your own lyrics to a    favourite tune?
• Do jingles from radio and TV linger in your brain?

It is amazing the power of sound… of organized sounds… of music!

Music has the power to affect the body and the mind, making it easier to store and recall important information contained in lyrics.

As studies in recent years have shown, listening to music and participating in music lessons have far more benefits than what we ever imagined. Researchers have found that music study can actively contribute to brain development. "The benefits conveyed by music education can be grouped in four categories:

• Success in society
• Success in school
• Success in developing intelligence
• Success in life
